According to Nielsen SoundScan, The Carter III sold 423,000 copies by the closes of business the first day in stores and is expected to follow in Kanye's footsteps with nearly one million sold in the first week. Despite pushing the album back, bootlegging, and recent controversy of DJ's leaking the album due to Lil Wayne's "Fuck DJ's" comments, before he clarified his statement, sales were unpredictable. With sales continuing to increase, Lil Wayne's album is set to be the best sales debut of the year.
